Everything Announced At The February PlayStation State Of Play

Introduction

Did you catch the stream or were you busy touching grass. Seriously though did you see what just happened. Sony just dropped a nuclear bomb of announcements and my brain is still trying to process the sheer amount of dopamine that just hit my system. You might be wondering is it really that deep and the answer is yes. It is that deep. We waited months for this and they finally decided to wake up and choose violence. If you missed it dont worry i got you covered with every single thing that went down during the February 12 State of Play. Grab a drink and maybe check your bank account because its about to take a serious hit.

The Big Hitters That Stole The Show

  • God of War Sons of Sparta

Okay listen to me. They shadow dropped this. Like literally it is out right now. Sony Santa Monica just walked on stage and said here you go play it. God of War Sons of Sparta is a 2D side scroller that looks like a pixel art fever dream. It is a prequel focusing on Kratos and his brother Deimos. The combat looks snappy and violent and it is giving me serious retro vibes but with that modern polish we expect. You can go download it right now. I am not joking. Go check the store.

  • God of War Trilogy Remake

If the shadow drop wasnt enough they also confirmed the one thing we have all been screaming for. A full remake of the original Greek trilogy. Not a remaster. A remake. We are talking modern graphics and overhauled controls for the OG games. We saw a tiny teaser and Kratos looks absolutely furious in high definition. No release date yet but honestly just knowing it exists is enough to keep me going.

  • Kena Scars of Kosmora

The show kicked off with this banger. Kena Bridge of Spirits was amazing but this sequel looks like it grew up. Kena Scars of Kosmora features an older Kena and a new setting called Kosmora. She has a new staff and her little rot friends are back but the tone feels darker and more mature. The combat looks way more complex too. It is coming in 2026 and my wallet is already crying.

  • Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 2

Finally. It is finally happening. Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns of the Patriots is officially escaping the PS3 prison. The collection includes MGS4 Peace Walker and Ghost Babel. It launches on August 27 2026. You have no idea how long i have waited to play MGS4 without needing a cell processor to run it. This is a massive win for game preservation and for anyone who wants to see Old Snake back in action.

The Surprises We Did Not See Coming

  • Castlevania Belmonte's Curse

Konami is actually making games again. I know i am shocked too. Castlevania Belmonts Curse is a new 2D entry developed by Motion Twin the guys who made Dead Cells. It looks fluid fast and incredibly stylish. It is set in France and you play as a successor to Trevor Belmont. It is coming in 2026 and it looks like the 2D action game we deserved.

  • Resident Evil Requiem

We got another trailer for Resident Evil Requiem and it confirms that Leon S Kennedy is back and he looks tired. The man needs a vacation. But more importantly Sherry Birkin is back too. The game launches on February 27 2026 which is like two weeks away. The horror vibes are immaculate and it looks like Raccoon City Police Department is getting another visit. Capcom just does not miss lately.

  • John Wick Game

Yeah you read that right. A AAA John Wick game is happening. It is being made by Saber Interactive and it features the voice and likeness of Keanu Reeves. They promised gun fu combat that actually feels like the movies. No release date but the teaser showed some stylish action that has me very intrigued.

Sci Fi and Shooters

  • Marathon

Bungie showed up with a new look at Marathon. It is an extraction shooter and the art style is still incredibly unique. They announced a Server Slam test happening from February 26 to March 2 so you can try it out for yourself. The full game launches March 5. I am cautiously optimistic because Bungie knows gunplay but the extraction genre is kinda crowded right now.

  • Pragmata

Remember that weird girl and the astronaut game from years ago. well it is real and it has a demo out now. Pragmata launches April 24 2026. The gameplay looks like a mix of shooting and hacking with some gravity manipulation stuff. It is very Capcom in the best way possible. Go download the demo and try to figure out what is going on because i am still confused.

  • Control Resonant

Remedy is back with a sequel to Control. Control Resonant features Dylan Faden and the gameplay looks even more chaotic than the first one. You can shift gravity and use telekinesis on a massive scale. It is coming in 2026 and it looks absolutely mind bending.
